Apply to participate in the Healthier US School Challenge, a free national program designed to support schools in building healthy environments that promote good nutrition and physical activity.

The Carlisle Area Health & Wellness Foundation is pleased to announce its 5210 Youth Nutrition and Physical Activity Initiative by awarding three grants totaling $105,000 to area school districts. Developed through the work of a community coalition, the new initiative aims to enhance the vitality of our region and prevent chronic disease through broad-reaching partnerships with area schools, nonprofits and businesses.

The following school districts will receive grants to host 5210 campaigns and launch evidence-based programs like SPARK, CATCH, Take 10 and Gimme 5.

Big Spring School District will promote 5210, launch a new SPARK physical education curriculum for elementary and middle school students, and introduce the Gimme 5 curriculum to fourth and fifth graders.

Carlisle Area School District will promote 5210, launch a Take 10 program that integrates physical activity into academic classes, and pilot the CATCH physical education program at two elementary schools.

West Perry School District will promote 5210, launch the SPARK physical education program in elementary schools, build a greenhouse and gardening classroom, host in-school events and conduct cafeteria audits.
